From the article: Your Documentaries Club - How To Form A Documentaries Club
Many documentaries lovers who're frustrated that the films they most want to see aren't shown in their local theaters. Sure, many of them eventually appear on TV, but there's often a long wait time and the solo watching of documentaries when they broadcast on TV isn't the same as being in a room full of people who are forming impressions and opinions that can be discussed when the film is over. Solution: form a documentaries club. Gather friends together for a weekly screening of a documentary in someone's home, or the local library, or a school. When you do so, share your experiences and tips here to benefit others. Share Your Tips
Parents And Kids
- I formed a group of parents who have kids in the same class as my daughter. We have four families participating. So far, we've shown a lot of animal documetaries, because they interest our kids--and get them talking about natural habitats and the environment. At first, the kids just wanted to watch blockbusters, but now they're actually looking for documentaries we can watch. So far, we've been meeting in my home on Thursdays, early in the evening, and watching on our wide screen. With snacks, of course. But we're going to start moving from house to house. It's a great way for the kids to bond and learn. My daughter's asking about our getting a camera, so we can make our own documentary about our town. I like the idea. Anybody got any tips about that?
