Documentary Title and Basics:
Modern Day Slaves - OFW
Story of abused, maltreatment, rape and beheading from the host countries.
More About the Documentary's Story And Issues:
OFW’s, Overseas Foreign Workers, forced to leave their home country in order to find work to feed their families, are often exploited, unprotected and abused. Corrupted governments tax what little wages they send home in the form of remittances, perpetuating the class system they flee. There are 11 million documented and hundreds of thousands more undocumented modern day slaves in our world today. More Americans today, due to the economic collapse are leaving the U.S. to find work. Will history repeat itself?”
This documentary follows four Filipino OFW’s and their stories of torture, rape and abuse. Forgotten by both their third-world and first world host countries, they are the consequences of human trafficking and extreme human rights violation. This violence must end.
Lessons Learned
- America and the whole world is at a crossroad. The financial collapse of 2008 maybe pushing backward some first world countries to a second world status.Such slippage may in fact be real. How we survive during this most difficult times is foreign to many people in the first world. Unemployment in the U.S.&Europe is becoming unbearable. When americans leave their country to seek employment in other parts of the world, they too will be subjected to the same problems overseas foreign workers from 3rd world countries are experiencing. In short, they will be exposed in a legal gray zone.
