By , About.com Guide

Acclaimed filmmakers and industry insiders are sharing their knowledge with younger documentarians by participating in A Day of Dialogue: The Future of Non-Fiction Film, a symposium for emerging filmmakers and mavericks with an interest in socially relevant non-fiction stories.

On the roster are Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (Jesus Camp), Albert Maysles (Gimme Shelter, Grey Gardens), Morgan Spurlock (Supersize Me), Alex Gibney (Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room) and Marc Levin ( Mr. Untouchable).

The symposium, sponsored by Current TV and FADER Films, takes place on November 6 at Tribeca Cinemas in New York.

Al Gore (who's starring role in An Inconvenient Truth was at least partly responsible for his winning the Nobel Peace Prize) will give the keynote speech.

“We are extremely proud of this initiative and our ability to provide the next generation of filmmakers with a platform from which they can learn and grow,” said Joel Hyatt, co-founder and CEO of Current TV. “Current, is proud to be the home on television for aspiring filmmakers with a fresh point of view.”

A Day of Dialogue will commence with Inside the Directors Studio, an hour-long discussion about the process and challenges of documentary filmmaking. Following the discussion, filmmakers will break into smaller groups to meet with industry professionals, including sales agents, film festival programmers and distribution executives. After Mr. Gore's speech, filmmakers will showcase and pitch their ideas and projects to a creative executive from Current TV.

The event's screening of selected shorts and excerpts from documentaries Current TV’s programming, as well as those by filmmakers attending the conference, is presented by FADER Films.

"FADER Films was established to work with independent and emerging artists," said FADER Film co-founder Rob Stone. "This event is a great way for young filmmakers to learn from the best in the business and dialogue with each other, and we're proud to be a part of it."
