Pit a documentary against a blockbuster at the box office, and blockbuster will unfailingly sell more tickets.
That's a given that's probably never going to change.
That said, audiences for documentaries are growing, albeit very slowly. Too slowly.
Unfortunately, the general movie going public still tends to think of nonfiction film as boring -- a bunch of talking heads rattling on about subjects that don't concern them and that they don't want to debate with friends.
They're wrong, of course. But they don't know that.
