Having its worldwide broadcast premier on November 23, the internationally produced Why Poverty? documentaries series focuses the global audience's attention on the causes of poverty around the world.
In eight hour long films and several dozen shorts, Jehane Noujaim, Alex Gibney and other well known documentarians set out to investigate international corporate exploitation of third world people and resources, efforts of women to escape economic bondage and become independent, situations in which education leads to economic despair rather than an escape from poverty, and other situations.
The series will be aired on PBS affiliates in the US and on other broadcast outlets in 67 countries around the world.
Overall, it's a fascinating and important project. Read more...
