Chances are that when the hurricane hits -- and it might be today's Hurricane Sandy or tomorrow's Hurrcane Whomever -- you will be shut in at your shuttered home or safely sequestered in a shelter.
Hopefully, you'll have sufficient provisions to keep yourself and your family well fed, quenched and comfortable for the duration. When provisioning remember that sitting tight can be boring and listening to the storm rage outside can be, well, scary.
So, distract yourself and make good use of the time by watching documentaries, especially those that are weather-related and provide reliable background information about the ever increasing number of climate-related weather catastrophies occuring around the globe.
You may think this would be like watching airplane disaster movies such as Snakes On A Plane or Flight while you're aloft. It's not!
The films on my suggested weather-related environmental documentaries list will actually put you in touch with what's happening around you and in the real world, help you to weather the storm, and perhaps suggest ways in which you can contribute to the prevention of the increasing frequency of severe weather in the future.
Live and learn. Stay safe and dry!!!
