October is breast cancer awareness month, so you've undoubtedly been called upon to 'think pink.'
While doing so, be sure to include Pink Ribbons Inc. on your agenda.
In this compelling documentary, patients and patient advocates comment on the 'pink' industry that has coagulated around breast cancer, and the film shows that large nonprofits like the Susan B. Komen For The Cure Foundation and others actually fritter away funds on spectacular events that don't contribute to finding cures.
And, the film investigates whether there are any curative effects derived from the extensive 'cause branding' by auto makers and other major corporations, as well as the manufacture of 'pink' merchandise that has sprung up around the disease.
The documentary is revelatory. Have a look at it and see what you come to think about 'thinking pink.' And, in the meanwhile, read my full review.
