Filmmakers Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady present a very soulful profile of Detroit, the once prosperous city that has fallen on hard times and is currently stuggling to survive. Unemployment is rampant, those who have jobs are forced to take pay cuts to keep them. Thousands of livable houses are slated for razing, mostly due to foreclosures. The filmmakers use local 'guides' to get to the core of what's going on. In Detropia, Detroit serves as a searing example of the urban blight and citizen flight plight that is plaguing U.S. cities, with no send in sight. Opens September 7. Read my full review.
