In Pink Ribbons Inc., breast cancer patients and patient advocates say that large nonprofits like the Susan B. Komen For The Cure Foundation, fritter away funds on spectacular events that don't contribute to finding cures.
The film investigates the industry -- including 'cause branding' by auto makers and other major corporations, as well as the manufacture of 'pink' merchandise -- that has sprung up around the disease, but fails to contribute to finding cures. The perspectives are revelatory. This film is a must see for everyone -- whether they've been personally effected by breast cancer, or not.
Opens in theaters June 1, 2012. Read my full review.
