The Directors Guild presented its award for Outstanding Achievement in Documentary Feature filmmaking to Charles Ferguson for Inside Job.
Ferguson's indepth investigation of the 2008 financial crisis and its lasting effects on world economics took the top honor over four additional nominees, including Lixin Fan for Last Train Home, Alex Gibney for Client 9, Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington for Restrepo and Davis Guggenheim for Waiting for Superman.
The DGA, celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, has 14,500 voting members, including directors of narrative and nonfiction films, television programming and commercials.
