The Producers Guild of America has named six documentaries as contenders for its 2011 Best Documentary Feature Award.
The nominees are:
- Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer - directed by Alex Gibney
- Earth Made of Glass - directed by Deborah Scranton
- Inside Job - directed by Charles Ferguson
- Smash His Camera - directed by Leon Gast
- The Tillman Story - directed by Amir Bar-Lev
- Waiting for Superman - directed by Davis Guggenheim
Notably, several favored Oscar shortlisted films -- Restrepo, Enemies of the People, Waste Land, Gasland and Exit Through the Gift Shop -- were excluded from the Producers Guild's list, as was Gotham Award-winner The Oath, directed by Laura Poitras.
The 2011 Producers Guild Awards will be presented January 22, 2011 in Beverly Hills, California.
