IDFA has awarded Dutch filmmaker Leonard Retel Helmrich awards in two categories for his Position Among The Stars, the final installment in his trilogy about an impoverished Indonesian family.

Position Among The Stars was given the Best Feature-Length and Best Dutch Documentary Awards, with a total prize of 17,500 Euros. Helmrich, who has been working on the trilogy for the past 12 years, is the first filmmaker to win the Best Feature-Length Documenary Award twice. He was also given the prize in 2004, for his Shape of the Moon.

In addition to IDFA's regular award categories, two new prizes were added in the 2010 competitions: the IDFA Award for Best Green Screen Documentary, focusing on environmental issues, has a prize of 2,500 Euros, while the winner of the IDFA DocLab Award for Digital Storytelling received a Canon 5D Mark II camera, courtesy of Canon.

The awards were presented on November 26, 2010 at the Tuschinsky Theater in Amsterdam.

Really a beautiful movie: beautiful landscapes, elderly wisdom against younger stupidity, Young hopes against elderly fatalities, city vs. village, Islam vs christianity.
You feel like watching a movie instead of a documentary (rollercoaster). For this: the maker uses some tricks but I don’t feel these tricks clash with the tale’s integrety (although walking a thin line)
Surely one film not to miss!

Very slow and not much happens. Needs lot of tightening as runs 111 mins and some of characters feel like they play up to camera.
