Tom Shepard's Whiz Kids opens theatrically in NYC at Cinema Village on June 4, and on June 11, at the Laemmle Music Hall in Los Angeles and at the Regal University Town Center in Orange County, with openings in other cities to follow.
The film follows three talented and ambitious teenage high school students as they prepare to enter their individual -- and quite diverse -- projects into competition to win the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search. Known as the junior Nobel Prize, the competition provides the winner with $100,000 towards college tuition, and usually guarantees placement in the freshman class at one of the ivy league schools or another top university.
The film's mix of personalities and science is fascinating. You can read my full review and watch the trailer.
