This is truly an amazing documentary. Also reminiscent of a movie I saw about the Congo and the women there–what they went through during the uprising there..Can’t remember it’s name but I would love to see it again. Do you have any idea about what it might be called?

Thanks for your question. I believe the documentary you’re inquiring about is “The Greatest Silence: Rape In The Congo.” And your right, it reveals the shocking treatment of women by soldiers fighting in the civil war. It aired on HBO and is an extremely moving film. You might also be interested in seeing Nanking, a documentary about the widespread rape of women during the Japanese occupation of Nanking during World War II. It’s available on DVD. Hope this helps.
I believe the film you’re inquiring about is The Greatest Silence – Rape In The Congo, and you’re right–that, too, is a terrific film. You may also be interested in watching Nanking, a documentary about the widespread rape of women and young girls during the Japanese occupation of Nanking during World War II. It’s available on DVD. Anybody know of any others that deal with this theme?
